Turned

VampireTurned (The Vampire Journals #1) is a young adult paranormal story by Morgan Rice. It has a great rating on different websites so I thought I’d give it a try. I have to say I’m really disappointed. It was nothing like the reviews said. The only thing I can say about this story is that it was weird.

There was something about her that made people look twice. She knew, deep down, that she was different. But she wasn’t exactly sure how.

Caitlin has just celebrated her eighteenth birthday. Since then she’s had these weird things going on with her body. When she is angry she has super human powers and she’s thirsty all the time. She is not giving much other thought to this stuff, which I think is kinda weird. One night when she goes out on a date, and the next morning she wakes up in a dumpster – not knowing what has happened. Someone has been murdered and she is a suspect.

Not knowing what to do Caitlin flees, but is soon hunted down by dark, not human like creatures with superhuman powers even stronger than hers. She is saved by another mysterious person. What I think was rather odd that Caitlin, at this point, still isn’t really thinking about what is going on with her. And she telling her rescuer she loves him without even really talking to him. I just didn’t see a fully developed character in Caitlin. It made her actions seem unrealistic, if not plain weird.

She was not dreaming. This was real. Too awfully, incredibly real.

Besides that, this story could have used better editing. I found more than one error, even errors like lines being repeated. And as I said the reactions of the main characters were unrealistic. She doesn’t really seem to think at all. That’s why I give this book:

1 out of 5 stars
