#Hater

#Hater is the long-awaited ( it took just a few months, but with the anticipation building it felt like an eon) sequel to #Nerd, the first book in the Hashtag series by Cambria Hebert. (This new adult contemporary series is not intended for young adult readers.) In #Hater we continue following Romeo and Rimmel. Their love for each other is stronger than ever.

How could I be excited about my dream when Rimmel’s life was being ripped apart? – Romeo

23561961It started with unspoken animosity. The bitter bite
of jealousy. And now its full blown hate. It
was during my first football game that I
first felt the first chill of hate. I looked it right
in the eyes and felt its sticky tentacles reach
out for me. I’d never experienced something
so cold and empty before.
The effect of that look lingered, like an
unspoken promise, long after it was gone.
Becoming a couple – becoming the other half
of a campus celebrity wasn’t easy. I let down
walls guarding my heart and he looked past
my glasses and accident prone tendencies.
Romeo and I are an unlikely match, a #nerd
and a jock. But we made it. And we’re happy.
Zach doesn’t want us to be happy. He wants
Romeo to pay for getting him kicked out of
Omega and for the night he spent in jail. He’s
going to use anything and everything he can
to get his revenge. Including me. As the
weather on campus grows cold and the days
become dark, revenge becomes the center of
someone’s life and the happiness Romeo and
I worked so hard for is threatened.
I can’t help but worry that our love is going to
be overshadowed by hate.

There is this quote that I read a long time ago. A quote that I loves and made me feel strong. It had stuck with me over the years, like so many of the other words by the author. ‘And though she be but little, she be fierce.’- Shakespeare. I thought about that quote right now. I might be little. I might be easily intimidated, but I could be fierce. I was fierce. – Rimmel

Hater is a very well written story that again dragged me into the world of Alpha U.  In my #Nerd review I said ‘Sometimes you just want a good romance story.’ And this book certainly is the answer to that. It has suspense. Cambria made me read all night long and I have to say it’s been a while since that has happened. It has it all. The Nerd, the hot quarterback, the drama, the action. I think #Hater is more than I could have asked for as a sequel to #Nerd. Thank you Cambria. Just thank you for creating the world of Alpha U and the wonderful characters that are Romeo and Rimmel. Thank you for the Alpha Buzzfeeds that made me laugh, and the funny facts you put in there. Thank you for bringing this awesome college/romance story into the world. Ok Cambria, you win. Again :P.
