Exhale is a Young Adult/New Adult story by Jennifer Snyder. It is a nice story, but I didn’t love it.
Inhaling in life is easy. It’s the exhaling – the letting go – that’s the hard part.
The story is about Katie. She has been friends with the Conner twins – Kyle and Derek- since she was little. Kyle has been showing and telling her he feels more for her than just friendship, but Katie doesn’t want any of that. For years she’s had a crush on Derek. She’s managed to keep that a secret. But then Derek kisses her, and that changes everything.
Katie and Derek decide to keep their relationship a secret, but one day Kyle finds out. He is devastated and decides his life has to end. What follows is a story full of emotion. Katie feels guilty. If Kyle hadn’t found out this way, he might still be alive. Derek is torn in two, losing his twin. Can Katie and Derek still be together?
Exhale is a nice story. It is a short but well written story. Jennifer Snyder really captured the emotion. But for some reason it didn’t grab me. Maybe it was the way Katie handled things, I don’t know. I did read it in one go, but it is only 160 pages. I liked it, but didn’t love it.
