Ascend (Trylle trilogy #3)

I had a busy reading weekend 😛 I also read Ascend by Amanda Hocking. It is the third and final novel in the Trylle trilogy. I must say, I don’t think this is the best one in the series…

Here is a summary:

Wendy Everly is facing an impossible choice. The only way to save the Trylle from their deadliest enemy is by sacrificing herself.  If she doesn’t surrender to the Vittra, her people will be thrust into a brutal war against an unbeatable foe.  But how can Wendy leave all her friends behind…even if it’s the only way to save them? The stakes have never been higher, because her kingdom isn’t the only thing she stands to lose. After falling for both Finn and Loki, she’s about to make the ultimate choice…who to love forever. One guy has finally proven to be the love of her life—and now all their lives might be coming to an end. Everything has been leading to this moment.  The future of her entire world rests in her hands—if she’s ready to fight for it.Amazon.com

Wendy Everly can barely remember what it was like to feel like a normal girl. She’d wished for her life to be different but everything is so much more complicated than she’d expected. And she certainly hadn’t dreamt she’d be getting married at eighteen to a man she didn’t love – all for the sake of duty. As the big day approaches, Wendy can’t stop thinking about two different men – and neither of them are her husband-to-be. Finn – quiet, strong and determined to do what’s right, and Loki – dark and seductive, a sworn enemy who once saved her life. With all-out war just days away, Wendy needs to act quickly if she is to save her friends and family. But while her loyalties and duties are to her people, deeper passions are leading her elsewhere. And as her worlds collide, Wendy must sacrifice everything she loves to save them. But will it be enough?Bol.com

I still like the idea of the story, but I didn’t love this third book. I can’t really put my finger on the ‘why’ but I guess it just didn’t grab me like the first novel did. And I thought the ending of the book was a bit strange too. I was really glad there was an epilogue, otherwise the ending would be worse. But I still would love to read the other series to come by Amanda Hocking 🙂  And, I love the covers of her books so far 😀

I give this book a thumb up and one down, because I didn’t hate it, but didn’t like it either.

  1. […] Two new books on GotToReadThoseBooks today. I didn’t have much time to post about them, sorry. I’m busy packing for my five-day trip to Vienna. You can read about The Hunger Games and Ascend. […]
